Chocolate Brownie Sundae with Maple Caramel Sauce and Candied Bacon Ingredients:
Brownies
– 1/2 cup butter
– 3/4 cup sugar
– 1/4 cup cocoa
– 2 eggs
– 1 tsp. baking powder
– 3/4 cup flour
– 1/4 tsp. salt
Caramel Sauce
– 1/2 cup butter
– 1 cup brown sugar
– 1/4 tsp. sea salt
– 1/2 cup maple syrup
Toppings
– 8 slices bacon
– 2 tbsp. maple syrup
– Vanilla ice cream
Chocolate Brownie Sundae with Maple Caramel Sauce and Candied Bacon Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 400 F.
2. Lay out 8 strips of bacon on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Cook for 15 minutes, or until the fat begins to render. Brush with maple syrup and cook for another 3 to 5 minutes, until the bacon is crisp and sticky. Cool and set aside.
3. Lower the oven temperature to 350 F.
4. On the stove over medium heat, melt the butter in a 8 x 8 inch baking pan. Remove from heat.
5. Add the sugar and cocoa and stir.
6. Add the eggs and mix well.
7. Add the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix thoroughly.
8. Place the pan in the oven and cook for 25 minutes.
9. While the brownies are baking, make the caramel sauce.
10. Place the butter, brown sugar and salt in a saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring constantly until melted.
11. Lower the temperature to medium heat and continue cooking at a low boil for another 2 minutes, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved.
12. Add the maple syrup and continue cooking for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened and glossy.
13. Build your sundae.
14. Place a warm brownie on a plate, stack with another brownie, then another. Top with one or two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Drizzle warm maple caramel sauce over the ice cream, and top with crumbled candied bacon.
15. Grab a spoon and dig in!
